ALICE IN WONDERLAND
This Tim Burton’s first film in 3D and it is backed by some amazing CGI visuals but as usual, the real strength of the film comes from the story. He has devised a sequel to “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland” that completes the personal journey of Alice. Lewis Carroll’s books, took Alice from naïve wonder to a sense of how to behave as an independent spirit. This extension of the story shows Alice as a submissive teenage girl who redefines herself as an independent woman.

ACADEMY AWARDS: 2010
In a time of war and recession, with an increasingly embattled American president in the White House, it was obvious that Hollywood was circling the wagons, recognising craft and artistry, as opposed to spectacle and huge box-office takings. It was truly an acknowledgement of craft and talent in the industy, and a celebration of the fact that beyond the commercial gan, Hollywood still makes movies that matter.
