A SINGLE MAN
There’s a subtle but considerable difference between “gay films”, which depict the gay community and its lifestyle in a tightly focused way; and films like “A Single Man”, which focus less on sexuality and the gay community’s, than on a broader view of how gays interact with the wider society in which they live. This film focuses more on universal issues, like loss and grief, which affect gay and straight individuals in much the same way.
